…also, best Penny T-shirt yet. (soz for double-post)
Phil, It’s funny. The quality of your 3D models is so high, I subconsciously expected to see a certain 4-letter ‘L’ word on top of each of the studs in close forefront of frame 2. It was a little confronting to notice it’s absence… DON’T tell me you model off inferior copy-brand bricks? 😉
Thanks, and thanks! No, I model off the real thing. In fact, my original models (when I was building & prepping for the strip) had the “4-letter” logo bump-mapped on the top of each stud. Unfortunately, when I read over TLG’s fair play guidelines, that was one area I felt I would be violating if I left the logo on the bricks. Sad, but I wanna try and be a good boy, all things considered. 😉 This way does have some added benefits, though – I’m free to create the occasional brick that doesn’t exist, if I need it. I’ve done that a few times, and nobody’s fussed about it, surprisingly. In fact, I’m adding a new semi-regular character next week (teaser alert) named Shakespeare for whom I’ve branched off The LEGO® Group’s design slightly in order to get a more expressive face. Hopefully he works out, although he’s not “canon”.
Well, it’ll be DtC Canon 😉
And understood regarding TLG’s ‘fair play’ guidlines.
Perhaps you could put a different 4-letter word?
In Aus, there’s a panel TV show on the ABC (Govt. station – akin to BBC)
that discusses marketing and advertising, etc. One of the regular panelist has become known for his amusing/controversial/satirist T-shirts each week. I had a genre-nerdy *squee* one week when he wore this T-shirt: http://nathanbush.tumblr.com/post/8426159746/lego-logo-shirt
😀
Heh heh. Can I have one of those, please?
I’ve added you to the waiting list, right after myself 🙂
Win.
