(Amidst piles of rubble, an apparition addresses Penny and Johnny.)
Ghost: As the ghost of systems past, I’m here to offer expert guidance on restoring the systems that were destroyed.
Panel 2:
Ghost: I will not be released from this place and will haunt you until each and every one Is rebuilt. I shall never leave!
Panel 3:
Penny: You mean you won’t leave until we rebuild the klugey, badly-wired systems that exploded the moment they were turned on?
Ghost: Uhhhh….
Panel 4:
Ghost: Good point. Guess I’m outta here then… So, is there a restaurant nearby? I’m starved.

I’m guessing he died of starvation as he tried to get the system working.
Could be! Actually, this was going to be a lead-in for a subsequent (abandoned) strip at a local Chinese place called Lee Ho Fook’s, where Penny recognized a werewolf she once saw in London. I changed direction.
If only we could speak to the ghosts in the machine so easily!
